2 Outta 3 Ain't Bad

But it ain't all that great either, when you think about it.

Decimated by injuries and summertime fun, an abbreviated roster for the Three Cities took the field for 3 games this weekend -- falling to the Canton Cardinals 8-4 in Ohio MSBL play before sweeping a twin-bill from the Knights (6-4 and 14-13) in the Cleveland MSBL on Sunday.

Saturday was a rough one for the Cities pitching, as Nick Erme started and awarded 7 free passes through 5 innings, resulting in 4 Cardinals runs. Jack Wysocki came in in relief, but also walked a pair, leading to 2 more runs. Wysocki did contribute 2 hits and a RS at the plate, and although Tyler Fry, Josh Taylor, John Millin and POTG staple Paul Clark all added multiple-hits, the 4 runs was not enough to grab a win.

Sunday was a hot mess -- but in a good way?

Clint Sorensen continued his string of solid starts, working 5 scoreless innings in the first game vs the Knights, earning the win, before Chris Meyer, in his season debut, recorded the unconventional (4-inning) save to finish the game.

Mike Breckenridge started the nightcap, before handing the ball to Drew Nassel, also in his debut on the year, who eventually walked away with the W, as the Cities stumbled and bumbled to a 14-13 victory in 7 innings.

While Erik Pinkerman (2-2, 2B, RS, 2RBI, 2BB) and Sorensen had stellar performances in Game 1, and Wysocki (3-4, 3RS, SB) again had a great Game 2, Meyer's Sunday 2-game totals (3-7, 4RS, 2B, 3B, 3RBI, 2BB plus 4IP, SV, 5:1 K/BB) earned him POTW honors.
