Staying Alive
Three Cities played their second game of the Cleveland MSBL playoff tournament Sunday, facing the Aviators at Euclid's Stanic Field. The Aviators had faced and lost to the reigning champion Ironwood Mets, while the Cities had fallen to the upstart Cabbies the week before - earning them their respective trips to the loser's bracket.
Three Cities' Mike Muller got the start, having started versus the Aviators twice on the year, both ending in complete game wins for TCBC. The third start was more of the same, as Muller stymied the Aviators bats and managed to reduce any damage they could do. Muller left the game after the 7th up 4-2, behind a tremendous day at the plate from Mike Kaffel, including a 3-run homerun. Jimmy Paskell took over and earned a 2-inning save.
The City bats added 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th as insurance, securing the victory and another game in playoff competition.
