Cities Outlast Marlins
Three Cities traveled back to Packard Music Hall Park in Warren, Ohio on Wednesday night to face the Colebrook Marlins in the second of 3 independent match-ups vs the Warren AA league.
The lineup brought across some consistency from the previous week's matchup as Jared Kirilchick (OF), John Millin (CA), Chris Pringle (1B), Nick Tsangeos (IF), Mike Muller (OF), Justin Chislow (SS) and Robinson Reyes (SP) made the return trip for Three Cities. Rounding out the team this week was Mike Breckenridge (RP), Dave Hoffman (OF), and Rob Janik (IF).
The Cities jumped ahead with 3 runs in the 2nd, and after allowing 2 to the home team the same inning, added 2 more in the top of the 3rd to go up 5-2. The Marlins answered to take the lead 6-5 in the bottom of the third, stringing together some key hits combined with miscues from the TCBC defense.
Things settled down though in the middle innings, riding a new-found consistency on the mound from Reyes and multiple hits from their 1 through 4 spots (Kirlicheck, Janik, Chislow, and Pringle), along with key table-setting ABs and run-scoring aggression from the bottom 3rd (Millin, Breckenridge and Hoffman), and the Cities were able to pull away to a 10-6 lead entering the bottom of the 7th.
Reyes quickly allowed 2 hits to the Marlins to start the inning, and gave way to Breckenridge, entering the game in an rare 4-run lead save situation. Despite allowing both inherited runs to score plus one more on a wild pitch, Breckenridge and the Cities were able escape and squeak out a W and record their 20th win on the year. Final score: TCBC 10 - Marlins 9
